I’m Abbie and I started New England Apothecary as an avenue to channel my enthusiasm for creating products that promote wellness. In my opinion, mass-produced brands simply can’t compete with the quality of artisanal small-batch bath and body products made with intention and carefully selected ingredients. I take pride in creating self-care goodies of the highest quality, and I want to share them with you! My wish is for you to feel relaxed and absolutely pampered, no matter how crowded and busy your life is otherwise.

Above all, I believe we are the best version of ourselves when we prioritize self-care and community. By being kind to ourselves we gain the energy to spread that kindness throughout our spheres of influence and collectively gain the power to change the world for the better through the accumulation of small positive actions.

I believe it's possible to create wellness products that are kind not only to your skin & soul but to the world and her citizens as well.

My goal with New England Apothecary is to create well-balanced, sustainable little luxuries that bring moments of pure calm into your otherwise hectic life.

When you purchase from New England Apothecary, you're getting:

  • Science-backed custom formulas

  • High quality ingredients

  • Sustainability + ethical sourcing

  • Hand crafted in MA

Why skincare?

We interact with the world through our skin. It’s so important to our self-image. I always feel better when it’s healthy and hydrated. It’s also our first line of defense — our largest immune organ. It tracks our age, stress levels, happiness. It does a lot for us and we often don’t prioritize it.

Caring for skin doesn’t have to be complicated or outrageously expensive. It only requires a few small habits- protect from sun, moisturize regularly, and occasionally exfoliate. I'm creating a line of high quality, exquisitely fragranced skincare basics to keep you pampered and feeling your best.

Who am I?

I am a scientist — I live at the border of computational biology and cell/molecular biology. Research is my bread and butter, and my first 5 years of training were in a lab in the department of dermatology at Stanford where I learned to appreciate the beautiful complexity of skin. I’ve also had somewhat sensitive skin all my life. I understand the emotional impact of healthy & happy versus angry & inflamed or breaking skin. I understand the frustration of trying to find the right products and routines to manage skincare with a busy lifestyle. That’s why I started researching and experimenting with cosmetic chemistry for myself. I wanted to create science-backed skincare products made from quality ingredients that would be highly effective and fit into my otherwise jam-packed life. Along the way, I discovered the therapeutic power of fragrance and the puzzle of environmentally friendly cosmetics packaging.

As I developed my line, I quickly discovered a problem: how to safely and securely package and present my products without contributing to ecologically destructive practices, in particular, the overconsumption of single-use plastics. I'm working hard to create products that are feel-good and beneficial through and through -- from sourcing, design, and packaging through purchase and use to the very last drop. My goal is to run an earth-and-people-friendly cosmetics business that makes you feel pampered and connected to the planet and her inhabitants.
